BC Rugby needs your help! We are seeking volunteers to help support the 2022 Western Canada Championships taking place on July 29-31, 2022 at the Parkinson Recreation Park in Kelowna, BC.
The Westerns return to the calendar this year for the first time since the global pandemic, as BC welcomes teams from Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Pacific North West Loggers.
The purpose of the Western Canada Championships is to foster the growth of competitive Rugby and provide an important pathway step through best-on-best Age-Grade competition to develop athletes towards National Team honours.
The Championships aim is to provide an appropriate development stage of competition to motivate, challenge and inspire young players, as well as Coaches and Officials.
Without volunteers, this event would not be possible!
HOW TO APPLY
We are looking for volunteers to fill several roles throughout the BC Day long weekend, across a variety of shifts. Volunteers must be 19+. These roles include:
- Field Control – Ensuring spectators stay off field and officials have room to complete their roles
- Field Setup/Teardown – Helping to setup and teardown the field with flags, tents, post pads, and uprights
- Scoreboard Manager (SUNDAY ONLY) – Updating the score of the games as they take place
- Site Assistant – Collecting trash, checking and cleaning facilities as needed
Friday will be split into three shifts, with Saturday and Sunday split into two shifts per day. Available shift times are as follows:
Friday, July 29: 8:00am-12:00pm, 11:30am-3:30pm, 5:50pm-9:00pm
Saturday, July 30: 8:00am-12:00pm, 11:30am-3:30pm
Sunday, July 31: 8:00am-12:00pm, 11:30am-3:30pm
Volunteers will be provided details on their role prior to the event. Volunteers will then be given a brief orientation onsite before beginning their shifts. Each shift will be 3.5-4 hours and volunteers will be provided with snacks and drinks.
