BC Rugby is excited to announce that the BC Bears Subsidy Program is back for 2025, with $15,000 in funding support available to players aspiring to representative-level Rugby.   

First introduced in 2017, the Player Subsidy Program provides financial support to players in need selected to represent BC Bears Age-Grade teams, in the form of discounts applied against team fees.

Since its launch, BC Rugby has provided over $160,000 of support through the Player Subsidy Program to help ease the financial cost of playing representative Rugby. We continue to support the BC Bears Age-Grade teams in action this year with a further $15,000 of allocated support.

2025 Applications are now open for the Player Subsidy Program. The subsidies available for the 2025 BC Bears U17 and U19 Representative Teams are:

• $250
• $500
• $750

To apply for the Player Subsidy Program, click the button below and complete the form by Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Please note that this application is solely for the purpose of player subsidies – the application will not have impact on the BC Bears Selection Process.

The timeline for selection to BC Bears teams and outcome of Subsidy applications is as follows:

• July 9 – Deadline for online applications to Player Subsidy Program

• July 11 – Outcome of Subsidy application shared with applicants

Upon selection for BC Bears, selected Representative players will have their applications reviewed by an independent committee.
