How To Watch Canada’s Rugby 7s Teams at The Tokyo 2020 Olympics

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics begins this week! Here’s how to watch Canada’s Rugby 7s teams in action.

Rugby 7s is featuring at its second Summer Olympic Games after its inaugural appearance at Rio in 2016.

Canada’s Women’s 7s team famously came home with the bronze medal five years ago – can they win gold this time around? They face France, Fiji and Brazil in Pool B.

Meanwhile, Canada’s Men’s 7s side is making its Olympic debut in Japan after missing out on qualifying for Rio.

What is Rugby 7s and how can I play it?

Co-captain and BC resident Nathan Hirayama (UVIC and Richmond RFC) will lead Canada’s athletes into the Olympics alongside basketball veteran Miranda Ayim at Friday’s Opening Ceremony, after the duo were selected as the nation’s flag bearers.

Canada’s Men’s 7s side face Great Britain, defending champions Fiji and hosts Japan in Pool B of their competition.

How Can I Watch The Olympics In Canada?

There will be nearly 3,800 hours of Olympic action televised and streamed in Canada when the Tokyo 2020 Games kick off on Friday July 23, 2021 and closes three weeks later on August 8, 2021.

CBC Canada is offering its coverage for free on its streaming platforms, including CBC Gem, CBC.ca and the CBC Olympics app. CBC will also be providing live television and radio coverage throughout the Games.
