Follow the BC Bears 7s Teams at the 2025 Canada Summer Games!
The 2025 Canada Summer Games kicks off in St. John’s this weekend with the Rugby 7s competition taking place on August 11-13 at Swilers Rugby Club – here is how you can follow all the action.
The BC Bears U18 Girls 7s and U20 Boys 7s squads are ready for competition, with Victoria and BC Rugby’s Joshua McIndoe named as flagbearer for Team BC at Saturday’s Opening Ceremonies.
“It’s an absolute honour,” said McIndoe. “To not only represent my province on the rugby stage, but also to be recognized as our flag bearer is an absolute honour.”
McIndoe is a natural leader on the pitch, serving as captain for BC Rugby’s U16 and U18 teams as well as Canada’s U20 National Team on their recent tour to Fiji. Off the pitch, he gives back to the community by coaching youth players at his club and volunteering at a local shelter.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be taught by great leaders and I’m definitely still learning myself,” added McIndoe.
Girls Rugby 7s returns to the Games for the first time since its inaugural appearance in Niagara in 2022, which saw Team BC win the Gold Medal, while Boys Rugby 7s competition has been reinstated to the Games for the first time since 2009.
The draw consists of 11 teams split into Pool A (5 teams) and Pool B (6 teams) on each side, with Teams playing four round robin matches before heading into the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
In the Boys competition, BC has been drawn in Pool B alongside Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon Territories and Quebec City. For the Girls event, BC is in Pool A and will face Nova Scotia, Alberta, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Games will be streamed throughout – viewers can watch all the action here or download the Canada Summer Games App at the Apple or Google Play Stores.
