Age-Grade Rugby Back With A Bang As 2021 Club Finals Confirmed!

Age-Grade Club Finals taking place in both Vancouver Island and Mainland on December 12

BC Rugby is delighted to confirm key details for the 2021 Age-Grade Club Finals this December.

After losing the best part of two seasons to the global pandemic, we are excited to announce the return of our Age-Grade Club Finals taking place on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Mainland Age-Grade Club Finals will be held at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Finals taking place at UBC will include the gold medal match for U13 Boys, U14 Girls, U15 Boys, U16 Girls, U17 Boys, U19 Girls and U19 Boys, and the bronze medal match for U15 Boys, U16 Girls, U17 Boys, U19 Girls and U19 Boys.

Island Age-Grade Club Finals will be hosted at Cowichan RFC, just north of Duncan. Finals taking place at Cowichan Rugby Club will include the gold medal match for U13 Boys, U14 Girls, U16 Girls, U17 Boys and U19 Girls, and the bronze medal match for U14 Girls, U16 Girls, U17 Boys and U19 Girls.

Full schedules and line-up details for both Mainland and Island venues will be announced soon. BC Rugby will also be launching a 2021 Age-Grade Finals page on our website, with key information for both venues.

The return of Age-Grade Club Finals kickstarts what we hope will be an action-packed 12 months of junior Rugby, with several key dates for 2022 confirmed – make sure you mark them down in your calendar!

2022 Provincial Regional Championships

The 2022 Provincial Regional Championships will take place July 1-3 at UBC across Canada Day long weekend.

The famous BC Rugby weekend makes its return for the first time since 2019, with the best youth Rugby players in BC suiting up for their respective regional XVs teams.

For emerging Rugby players, this tournament presents a perfect opportunity to impress any watching BC Rugby Age-Grade Team Coaches and make a bid for selection to the BC Bears!

More information on the 2022 Provincial Regional Championships will be released early next year.

2022 BC Summer Games

The 2022 BC Summer Games will be held in Prince George on July 21-24. The planned 2020 BC Summer Games was cancelled due to the global COVID-19 Pandemic.

The BC Summer Games are British Columbia’s biennial celebration of sport and community. It brings together British Columbia’s best emerging high-performance athletes, trained coaches, and certified officials for four days of competition. This experience is an important development opportunity and steppingstone towards higher level sports competitions.

2022 Canada Summer Games

The 2022 Canada Summer Games will take place in Niagara, Ontario between August 6 and 22.

The Canada Games are held every two years, alternating between Summer and Winter Games. The Games are the largest multi-sport event in Canada and represent the pinnacle of interprovincial/territorial sport competition.

Rugby is making its return to 2022 Games in Niagara with the inaugural women’s Rugby Sevens competition. Rugby Sevens has exploded in recent years, partly due to the recent success of the Canadian Women’s Sevens team – including their bronze medal win at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

2022 Western Canada Rugby Championships

Dates for the the 2022 Western Canada Rugby Championships (WCC) are yet to be confirmed. The Championships are set to be held in Kelowna, BC.
