The BC Bears U18 Girls 7s Team had a great experience at the inaugural 2023 Global Youth Sevens Gold Coast, taking on top International competition over the December 9-10 weekend.
The BC Bears were up against stiff competition as they hit the pitch at Bond University, joining 20 of the top Girls 7s Teams in the World for a a shot at being crowned the first victors of the Gold Coast’s leg of the Tournament. In a difficult Pool alongside the Renegades 32 Blue, Australian Cavaliers and Nauru, they came out swinging, securing two big wins and one narrow loss to advance to Sunday’s semifinals as the No. 6 seed. In an unlucky draw on Day 2, the Bears were up against top Team of the Tournament, Australian Schoolgirls. They fell in the hard match-up to the eventual Tournament Champions, concluding their Campaign down-under.
Throughout the weekend, the Bears had smiles on their faces and kept the energy high, making BC proud!

ABOUT THE GLOBAL YOUTH SEVENS
Global Youth Sevens (formerly the World School Sevens) is an international U18 Sevens Rugby tournament that has been in existence since 2016. It has featured over 100 teams over the last six years including teams from USA, Canada, Japan, Fiji, Australia, Samoa, Nauru and New Zealand. The tournament features national representative teams and composite teams including New Zealand Tongans, New Zealand Samoans and NZ Niue.
The vision of the tournament is to deliver a high-level professional event that provides the players, Coaches and management with a life-changing experience and provides an opportunity for the players to showcase their talents on a global stage.
