BC Rugby is delighted to announce the BC Bears U16 Girls 7s squad travelling to Tampa, Florida to compete at 2024 Tropical 7s over Easter weekend.
Tropical 7s is an international 7s Rugby tournament bringing together school, club and university teams from around the world for a once-in-a-lifetime rugby tour experience in Florida.
The BC Bears U16 Girls 7s team will compete in the U16 Girls Elite division, competing against 7 other Elite Teams during the two days of pool play and playoffs at the Tampa Sportsplex.
Tropical 7s will provide an unparalleled playing experience in Florida, giving BC’s best U16 7s athletes an exciting opportunity to showcase their talents and compete at a high-level event, which will be many of the athletes’ first International tour experience!

The team will be coached by Darcy Patterson, while the squad will also be joined by athletic therapist Sheena Kelly.
The selection process for the BC Bears U16 Girls 7s team was very competitive and took into account performances during the Winter’s ID Camps and key events throughout the BC Rugby season, including the 2023 Kamloops 7s and 2024 Vancouver Sevens Invitational.
The Bears will contest the U16 Girls Elite Division alongside USA Rugby South Panther Academy Red, All Midwest Thunderbirds, NRU Thunder, Halifax RFC, Atlantis, Tsunami Toronto Reds and Hawkeyes U16 Girls Elite.

Now in its 7th year and held annually each Easter week, the Tropical 7s has become one of the world’s leading youth rugby events, bringing together school and university age teams from around the world together for a once-in-a-lifetime rugby tour experience under the warm Florida sunshine.
While attracting the world’s elite teams, the competition is open to all teams of various skill levels for boys & girls sides at U18, U16, U14, U12 (Coed) and University/U23 age groups. For 2024, Tropical 7s has introduced senior men’s and women’s divisions for the very first time.
