BC Rugby is pleased to announce two BC Bears Talent Identification and Development Sessions for U19 and U20 female athletes (birth year 2003-2005) taking place in February.
In conjunction with Rugby Canada’s U20 Programming, BC Rugby is looking to identify all eligible athletes born 2004-2005 for the 2023 U19 Canadian Rugby Championships, as well as any athletes born in 2003 who would be eligible for the U20 National campaign.
“These sessions are a great touchpoint for our Provincial U19 Women’s Coaches, Oliver Winser and Matt Fraser, to work alongside Rugby Canada’s U20 Coach Dean Murten, in identifying and developing athletes on the pathway to National teams. These sessions will help measure and assess where athletes are with their technical skills and provide them some development and takeaways to work on in those areas.” BC Rugby Technical Director John Tait
Sessions will be hosted on both the Mainland and Vancouver Island, with athletes only required to attend one session. Sessions will cost $20 with fees helping offset field hire.
ALL athletes MUST pre-register for the session they wish to attend by clicking on the button below.
Sessions will take place on the following dates:
- February 5 – Vancouver – UBC MacInnes Turf Field – 10:00am-2:00pm
- February 26 – Victoria – University of Victoria Wallace Field – 10:00am-2:00pm
A field map for the University of Victoria can be downloaded here.
All athletes are advised to bring cleats for turf at UBC and grass at UVIC, as well as their own snacks and water as there will be a break mid-point during each session.
Please dress according to the weather and make sure you have cold/rain gear available. Sessions will be non-contact, but there will be a therapist on hand for taping and emergency care only.
Weather-permitting, there will also be baseline testing runs to measure speed and power.
