BC will be represented on home soil after Jack Hanratty announced his Canada’s Senior Women’s Sevens team to compete at the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens in Langford on April 30-May 1.
Abbotsford’s Nakisa Levale (Abbotsford RFC) once again makes the roster, while a host of BC Rugby Clubs also have representation in the squad.
Having qualified for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in South Africa by winning the RAN Sevens Qualifiers in Nassau, Bahamas last weekend, the Canadians head into their home event high on confidence. It will be the first time the team has played the tournament at Starlight Stadium, the home of Rugby Canada, since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tickets are available here.
Canada Women’s Sevens Roster for Langford
Hanratty has made one change to the roster which had such success at the RAN Sevens Qualifiers as up-and-coming young talent Renee Gonzalez, who made her debut in Vancouver last year, comes into the squad. Meanwhile, Olympians Bianca Farella and Keyara Wardley continue to feature having made their comeback in Nassau.
“On the back of some good momentum at the RAN Sevens Qualifiers last weekend, the group couldn’t be more excited to be back in Langford to compete at our home event. The opportunity to play against the best teams in the world in front of a passionate Canadian crowd for this new, talented group of players is such an electrifying prospect.” Canada Senior Women’s Sevens Head Coach Jack Hanratty
