Four champions were crowned at a fantastic 2025 BC Rugby Age-Grade Club Finals Day in Langley on Sunday.
Despite the heavy rain and testing conditions, the atmosphere was lively at Willoughby Stadium as Provincial Champions were decided across BC Rugby’s U16 and U18 Boys and Girls Divisions.
Teams and supporters braved the elements as athletes battled it out in front of a passionate and vociferous crowd.
Abbotsford RFC earned redemption for last year’s Finals defeats as they secured a U16 and U18 Girls Championship double. Capilano RFC lifted the U16 Boys Championship trophy following victory over Castaway Wanderers, who settled for second for the third successive year. In the U18 Boys Final, Castaway Wanderers defeated UBCOB Ravens for the second successive year to earn back-to-back Championships.
BC Rugby streamed all four Finals from the day’s event – they are available to watch on YouTube here.

THRILLING ACTION AT WILLOUGHBY STADIUM
U16 GIRLS FINAL – ABBOTSFORD RFC VS. JAMES BAY AA
Abbotsford RFC enjoyed a 31-5 win over James Bay AA to banish the demons of last year’s Finals defeats to CV Rapids Rugby.
The Fraser Valley Club reached both U16 and U18 Girls Finals for the second successive year, but suffered double defeat to Rapids in Langford this time last year.
However, Abbotsford clinched the first of a historic double with a pulsating win over James Bay AA in Sunday’s first match. Their astute attacking play, particularly in the second half, eventually broke down a tireless James Bay AA defence that was exceptional throughout.
However, it was Abbotsford’s Day and they capped of victory with a fine try in the dying moments to spark pandemonium on the pitch at the final whistle.
U16 BOYS FINAL – CAPILANO RFC VS. CASTAWAY WANDERERS
Capilano RFC produced a scintillating display of Rugby to clinch the U16 Boys Championship crown against Castaway Wanderers RFC.
Castaway, beaten Finalists for the third straight year, never gave up hope but Capilano’s dominant pack and swift, attacking moves from the backs spurred them to a 33-10 triumph.
It was a ruthless display, much to the delight of the Capilano RFC fans in the stands, but Castaway refused to go down without fight.
However, Capilano saw out the match in style and regained Championship glory for one of the Mainland’s biggest Clubs.
U18 GIRLS FINAL – ABBOTSFORD RFC VS. JAMES BAY AA
Abbotsford RFC capped off a historic Championship double with a superb 43-7 victory over Island Regional winners James Bay AA in the U18 Girls Final.
Abbotsford was quick out of the blocks and stunned their Island counterparts with a ruthless first half display, racing into a 36-0 lead before the break.
James Bay AA, however, showed steely resilience throughout the second half and got on the scoreboard with the try of the match to reduce the deficit.
Abbotsford scored once more to extend their lead, but the damage was done in the first half and the Fraser Valley Club secured its second Championship win of the day.
U18 BOYS FINAL – UBCOB RAVENS VS. CASTAWAY WANDERERS
Castaway Wanderers RFC made it back-to-back U18 Boys Championships with a classy performance to defeat UBCOB Ravens for the second successive year, finishing Sunday’s match as 31-15 winners.
These two teams have battled out the previous three U18 Boys Finals: going into today’s installment, both Clubs had one victory apiece with the points differential completely level.
However, Castaway Wanderers came through a tough battle to clinch victory in round three. The first half was even, with Castaway taking a narrow 10-8 lead at the break. However, the Island side pulled clear in the second half thanks to smart attacking play and a solid defensive line.
Ravens pushed hard but could not find a way through again until the final play of the game, but by then it was all too late.
