Are you interested in becoming a Rugby Coach? BC Rugby is pleased to announce a tentative Coaching Course schedule for October 2022-February 2023.
The below schedule includes planned dates for Level 1 Coaching Courses, as well as Coaching Conferences held at the University of Victoria (Victoria) and the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) and Level 1 & 2 Coaching Certification.
Confirmation of dates, cost and further details about the Coaching Conferences will be released in due course.

Level 1 & 2 Course Prerequisites
There are several prerequisites that MUST be completed before taking a Level 1 or Level 2 Coaching Course – click on the links to learn more. These are as follows:
Level 1 Course Prerequisites
- NCCP Make Ethical Decisions
- WR Rugby Ready
- WR Concussion Management for the General Public
- WR Laws of the Game
- WR Beginner’s Guide to Rugby
- WR Introduction to Coaching
- WR Coaching Children
- WR Key Factors
- WR COVID-19 Awareness For Coaches and Athletes
Level 2 Course Prerequisites:
- NCCP Make Ethical Decisions
- WR Rugby Ready
- WR Concussion Management for the General Public
- WR Introduction to Coaching
- WR Laws of the Game
- WR Key Factor Analysis
- WR Functional Role Analysis
- WR First Aid in Rugby
- WR Introduction to Strength and Conditioning (1 module, for the age which you predominantly coach)

Once all pre-requisites are complete, coaches should register under the Rugby Canada Training & Education page here. Coaches should then upload their certifications prior to attending their Level 1 course.

Coaching Conference (Victoria)
This will feature a series of topics and presenters during the USport Women’s National Rugby Championships at the University of Victoria. Further details will be released soon.
Dates: November 11-12, 2022
Location: University of Victoria
Coaching Conference (Vancouver)
This will feature a series of topics and presenters during the Men’s University National Rugby Championships at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Further details will be released soon.
Dates: December 2-3, 2022
Location: University of British Columbia
Level 1 & Level 2 Coaching Certification
Dates: January 21-22, 2022
Location: Yale Secondary School, 34620 Old Yale Road, Abbotsford, BC
Note: Level 1 Certifications take place over one day, Level 2 Certifications take place over the two days
