The BC Bears U16 Girls 7s Team finished fourth in the U16 Girls Elite Division at the Tropical 7s after an action-packed weekend in Tampa, Florida!
The Bears rallied to two wins from three group matches on opening day, before cruising past Tsunami Toronto Reds 17-5 in the Championship quarter-finals on Saturday. However, the Bears fell 21-10 to the USA Rugby South Panthers in the Championship Semi-Final before missing out in an intense 10-7 Bronze Medal loss to the All Midwest Thunderbirds.
The Bears finished with three wins and three defeats following a fantastic week down in Florida, which saw a record number of teams competing at this year’s tournament. 209 teams registered with a record 97 female teams (almost half of the team entries), showcasing the growth of Girls Rugby in North America and beyond! One third of all teams hail from outside North America, marking this as a truly global tournament.
