The 2024 BC Bears U16-U18 Boys and U18 Girls XVs Camps wrapped up this past weekend with athletes enjoying valuable experiences together.
The BC Bears U16 Boys XVs team, coached by Leana Marton and Rob Hayes, came through two close battles with the Eagle Impact Rugby Academy to claim two victories in their two-match Series against the American side.
The BC Bears U18 Boys XVs team, coached by Jonathan Mergui, Remi Anctil and Scott McGinley, dominated their Eagle Impact Rugby Academy rivals with two big wins and conceded only 8 points across two matches. The team will travel to Chuckanut Polo Grounds on August 10 to face the Pacific Northwest Loggers in a return fixture, having hosted the Loggers last summer.
The BC Bears U18 Girls Top 40 Training Camp provided athletes with quality coaching from Jake Thiel, Jen Ross, Sherry Spence and Alejandro Chavez, as the Blue vs. Gold Two-Match Series finished with one victory for each team.
The athletes were put through their paces throughout a hot and humid six-day Camp at UBC’s Gerald McGavin Centre, as they worked tirelessly in testing conditions. Athletes participated in two training sessions per day, as well as numerous bonding exercises throughout the week.

BC BEARS U16 BOYS
The BC Bears U16 Boys XVs team enjoyed two wins against the Eagle Impact Rugby Academy. The Bears won 21-8 in Game 1 at UBC, before edging a tight 29-22 victory in Game 2 at Burnaby Lake Rugby Club.

BC BEARS U18 BOYS
The BC Bears U18 Boys XVs team scored two big wins against their Eagle Impact Rugby Academy opponents. The Bears won 53-0 in Game 1 at UBC, before dispatching their America rivals 61-8 in Game 2 at Burnaby Lake Rugby Club.

BC BEARS U18 GIRLS
The BC Bears U18 Girls Top 40 Training Camp culminated in a two-match Blue vs. Gold Series, with both sides finishing with one victory each. The BC Bears U18 Girls Gold team took Game 1 with a 31-12 triumph, before the BC Bears U18 Girls Blue team battled back with a 10-5 victory in Game 2.
