BC Rugby is deeply saddened by the passing of Brent Johnston.
Brent was a pillar of the BC Rugby and Canadian Rugby community, and will be sorely missed. He will be remembered fondly for his lifelong contributions to Rugby both in British Columbia and Canada, and his passion in making our sport greater.
Brent was a mainstay in the Vancouver Island Rugby community, representing UVIC Vikes, James Bay AA and the Oak Bay/Castaway Wanderers team that he was integral in building.
Brent was national team manager for the Canada’s Men’s Rugby team for the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, and was an unwavering supporter of Canadian Rugby in his travels around the world.
We encourage everyone to read this article posted by Castaway Wanderers which shines a light on Brent, and how his contributions bettered Canadian Rugby both here in BC and around the world.
Our deepest condolences go to Brent’s family and many friends at this sad time.
