In the wake of deteriorating weather conditions throughout BC and in Washington, causing fields to be unsafe to play on alongside challenging travel conditions, BC Rugby has made the regrettable decision to cancel all fixtures this weekend.
BC Rugby appreciates this is disappointing news for all teams and Clubs, and apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused.
The Government of Canada has issued a special weather statement across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island for this weekend, with significant snowfall expected. Additionally, the BC Government has issued a Travel Advisory notifying drivers to avoid all unnecessary travel when weather conditions are poor.
For all players registered for the Rookie Rugby Festival this Sunday February 26, Rugby Canada will send communications by 8:00am on Sunday directly to registered players should this event be cancelled. There will still be an opportunity to connect with the Canadian Women’s National Team players from 10:00am-11:00am should we need to cancel the event.
Additionally, the scheduled BC Bears Talent Identification and Development Session for U19 and U20 female athletes on Vancouver Island this Sunday, February 26, has been postponed and rearranged for March 19. More information on this can be found here.
