The University of British Columbia won the second tournament of the Canada West 7s Series, going 5-0, topping it off with an emphatic win over Victoria.
UBC and the University of Victoria met in the final match, with both teams carrying an undefeated record in the second tournament of the season. The Thunderbirds ran up and down the field, capturing the tournament title with a 27-5 win over the hosts.
Trinity Western and Alberta highlighted day two with their hard-fought 19-19 tie. The Pandas surged late, scoring a try in the dying moments of the game. Their clutch kick brought this duel to a draw, the first of the season.
Victoria’s Ivy Poetker added two more tries on day two of the tournament, bringing her weekend total to eight, crowning her the tournament scoring leader.
The six teams will travel to Vancouver for the last stop on the Canada West 7s Series, with action beginning March 6. The Thunderbirds will look to add on to their perfect record as they host the last tournament of the season.
