BC Rugby is delighted to announce the Vancouver Sevens Invitational will return on March 5-7, 2026 ahead of the 2026 HSBC SVNS Vancouver.
In partnership with Sport Hosting Vancouver, the 2026 VSI will take place at UBC’s Gerald McGavin Centre and will provide a complete Rugby Sevens experience for all participants, combining thrilling competition with the opportunity to watch world-class international Sevens at Vancouver’s BC Place.
Taking place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nation in the week leading up to the HSBC SVNS Vancouver, the VSI aims to foster the growth of competitive Rugby Sevens throughout BC and serves as a key event on the 2026 BC Bears 7s Pathway.
In hosting VSI, BC Rugby gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Sport Hosting Vancouver and the Province of British Columbia.
The event once again features four divisions across U16 and U18 Boys and Girls age brackets.
The U16 Divisions will be contested by BC’s Regional Teams and additional out-of-province teams, with a focus on developing athletes and introducing them to the Sevens Pathway.
The U18 Divisions take a more national focus with two BC representative teams competing against six other provincial teams, aiming towards building a higher level of competition and preparing athletes for further BC Bears programming and events.

The 2026 VSI is an integral part of the Sevens pathway for BC athletes, with the return the BC Summer Games in July 2026 and BC Bears 7s teams heading to the Global Youth Sevens in December.
Ahead of VSI, the BC Bears 7s Coaches will host Selection Camps on January 31-February 1 for up to 60 athletes. Thirty spaces will be used for pre-determined known athletes, while the remaining 30 spaces will be used for other interested athletes.
In July, the 2026 BC Summer Games returns to Kelowna with eight regions battling it out across the U17 Girls bracket. The timing of the BC Summer Games, however, does conflict with U17 BC Bears XVs Programming, so athletes will need to bear this in mind.
These events will build towards the selection of 13 athletes for our BC Bears U18 Boys 7s and BC Bears U18 Girls 7s Teams slated to compete at the 2026 Global Youth Sevens in New Zealand in December 2026.
More information about BC Bears 7s and XVs Programming for 2026 will be released by BC Rugby in due course.
