The BC Bears 7s Teams compete throughout the year and play against other Provincial or Representative Teams, as well as teams from around the world.
Rugby 7s is big in British Columbia and offers a different pathway to XVs. The BC Bears 7s Teams compete at Championships and tournaments which are attended by Rugby Canada Coaches and Selectors. Click on the below teams for more information:
BC Bears Senior Men’s 7s
The BC Senior Men’s 7s team has a strong history of competing in tournaments and championships both in BC and North America, including the Vancouver Rugby Festival and Las Vegas Invitational.
Many players who have represented the BC Bears have gone on to play for Canada’s National Sevens Teams in both the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and the Olympic Games, including Jake Thiel, Phil Berna, Nathan Hirayama and Harry Jones.

BC Bears U18 Boys and Girls 7s
Building towards the 2025 Canada Summer Games, athletes interested in the 7s Pathway should aim to participate in the 2024 Vancouver Sevens Invitational, 2024 BC Summer Games and BC or Club 7s. BC Bears teams will be travelling to compete at the 2024 Tropical 7s (U16 Girls) and 2024 Global Youth Sevens (U18 Boys and U18 Girls).
The BC Bears U18 Boys and Girls 7s Programs will once again travel to compete at the 2024 Global Youth Sevens in Auckland, New Zealand this December. The Girls Team will be the core group preparing for the Canada Summer Games.
The Global Youth Sevens is an international U18 Rugby Sevens tournament that attracts teams from the USA, Canada, Japan, Fiji, Australia, Nauru and New Zealand, including national representative teams and composite teams. This tournament is one of the world’s leading youth sevens events and provides athletes with elite competition, experiences and memories that last a lifetime.
BC Bears U18 Boys 7s
BC Rugby is looking to identify all eligible athletes born 2007, 2008 and 2009 for its BC Bears Elite Boys 7s Program, which will return in 2024 to target the Global Youth Sevens in Auckland, New Zealand.

BC Bears U18 Girls 7s
The BC Bears U18 Girls 7s Program will return in 2024 targeting the Global Youth Sevens in New Zealand in December.

BC Bears U16 Girls 7s

The BC Bears U16 Girls 7s Program will travel to the 2024 Tropical 7s in Florida this March. One of the largest and most popular junior 7s tournaments in North America, the Tropical 7s brings together 170+ teams from around the globe and provides competitive divisions, international referees, and a world-class venue for the ultimate Rugby tour experience.

- February 21-22, 2024 – Top 20 (Final Trial/Preparation)
- March 3 – Team Training
- March 17 – Team Training
- March 26 – Team Departs for Florida
- March 29-30 – Tropical 7s
- March 31 – Team Returns Home
