BC Rugby is excited to announce two upcoming ID and Development Sessions for the BC Bears U18 and U19 Girls Programs taking place on the Mainland and Island.
The ID & Development sessions are for female athletes born in 2005, 2006 or 2007 and will see Coaches from both BC Bears U18 Girls and BC Bears U19 Women’s Programs working together to assess and develop potential athletes for the 2024 Summer campaigns.
Led by U19 Women’s Coach Julia Sugawara and U18 Girls Coach Jake Thiel and respective Program staff, these sessions are a fantastic opportunity for outstanding female athletes born 2005-2007 and will be a crucial step in identifying and further developing top talent with ambition to play at the next pathway level.
This is a unique opportunity for participants to learn from two of the best on the field to help prepare them for potential selection to the BC Bears this summer.
The Mainland Session will take place from 12:00pm-2:30pm at Langley Rugby Club (Alumni Field) on Sunday, March 10 and the Island Session will be held on Sunday, April 14 at Shawnigan Lake School between 12:30pm-3:00pm.
All attendees must be registered BC Rugby Members. Pre-registration via the below link is mandatory: on-the-day registrations will not be accepted. There is a one-time registration fee of $25 to offset associated field costs. Players are not expected to attend both sessions.
“These ID sessions will be a great opportunity for players to demonstrate the hard work they have put in this year, and for the coaches to get a look at the skills and athleticism we have in BC right now. We are excited to further develop the talent coming out of the U18 program in recent years and put together a competitive team for both the Canadian Rugby Championships and the U18 Girls Series with the Eagle Impact Academy this summer.” BC Bears U19 Women’s Head Coach Julia Sugawara
“We’re excited to host these ID sessions that will help identify and develop female athletes for both the U18 and U19 Provincial Programs. For the participants, this will be a crucial step as they learn, develop and showcase their skillset ahead of a thrilling summer of Rugby for the BC Bears.” BC Bears U18 Girls Head Coach Jake Thiel
