Rugby Canada is pleased to announce the eight successful applicants of the 2022 HSBC Community Rugby Fund.
In its second year of existence, the HSBC Bank Community Rugby Fund received more than 30 applications from seven of the 13 provinces and territories in Canada. The program offers grants aimed at benefitting the sustainability and growth of Rugby at the community level across the country. The Fund, presented in partnership by Rugby Canada and HSBC Bank Canada, allows all registered Rugby clubs, as well as schools and community organizations in Canada, to submit an application for funding.
Three BC Clubs – Chilliwack Crusaders RFC, Nanaimo Hornets RFC and the BC Grassroots Rugby Foundation – were successful in their applications.
Passion and Drive to Grow Rugby
In 2022, eight more successful applications have been selected to receive funding after the eight applications that were selected in the program’s inaugural year in 2021. Each of the successful applications for 2022 clearly display their approach and passion for growing Rugby across Canada.
Priority was given to those Rugby clubs, schools or community organizations who applied for grant funding that focused on cultivating the community game with special consideration given to projects that:
- Enhance the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility of rugby within a club, school, or community organization.
- Support the development of coaches and match officials within the rugby community.
- Introduce new youth programs in the rugby community that did not previously already exist.
“This year’s applicants displayed a passion and drive to continue to grow Rugby across the country. The eight recipients will help to drive community Rugby forward as well as support the building of foundations for the future of our game in their regions.” Ryan Jones, Rugby Development Manager, Rugby Canada
