BC Rugby is delighted to announce the return of its BC Bears Subsidy Program with $20,000 in funding support available to players aspiring to representative-level Rugby.
First introduced in 2017, the Player Subsidy Program provides financial support to players in need selected to represent BC Bears Age-Grade teams, in the form of discounts applied against team fees.
Since its launch, BC Rugby has provided over $60,000 of support through the Player Subsidy Program to help ease the financial cost of playing representative Rugby. We continue to support the BC Bears Age-Grade teams in action this year with a further $20,000 of allocated support.
2022 Applications are now open for the Player Subsidy Program. The subsidies available for the BC Bears 2022 Age-Grade Representative Teams are:
- $500.00 – Available for U18 & U16 players
- $300.00 – Available for U18 & U16 players
- $150.00 – Available for U14 players
HOW TO APPLY
To apply for the Player Subsidy Program, please complete the below form by Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Please send your letter of support as detailed in the form to npryce-baff@bcrugby.com prior to July 3.
Please note: This application is solely for the purpose of players subsidies. This application will not have impact on the BC Bears selection process.

The timeline for selection to BC Bears teams and outcome of Subsidy applications is as follows:
- July 3 – Deadline for online applications to Player Subsidy Program
- July 4 – Players informed of selection to BC Bears Representative Programs
- July 6 – Outcome of Subsidy application shared with applicants
- July 7 – Deadline for accepting selection to BC Bears Representative Programs
PAYMENT PLANS AND OTHER FUNDING
BC Rugby offers a flexible payment plan for players fees to further reduce the financial barriers for selected athletes. Upon selection, players will be given instruction on how to apply for these payment plans.
