Nanaimo Hornets were originally formed under the name of Nanaimo Rovers in the year 1888, one of 3 Vancouver Island teams in that year. The name was changed later that century. Up until the mid 1970's, the Hornets have moved their home pitch to numerous venues finally building our own Hornets' Nest at May Bennett Park.
At the Nanaimo Hornets RFC, our players, members, and families are dedicated to creating, promoting, and encouraging an active interest in rugby in the Nanaimo area. To be a Hornet means we strive to help our members reach their full potential both on and off the field at all levels. We promote a healthy and safe atmosphere while teaching the values and traditions of rugby, as well as supporting our community at every opportunity. Our goal is to live as we play; with passion, pride, honour, and integrity.
BC Rugby gratefully acknowledges that its offices reside on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
