BC Rugby is saddened to hear of the passing of long-time Twilighters and Burnaby Lake RFC Member, Steve Baron.
Steve was a pillar of the Rugby community in BC and dedicated untold hours of service to his beloved Twilighters and Burnaby Lake RFC.
Steve had an immense passion for our sport and its culture, something that stayed with him throughout his many years in Rugby. His commitment to the development of Rugby for youth, senior and Masters Rugby will be missed sorely. He was a champion and ambassador to our friends in Japan, a relationship he kept strong until the end.
Another passion for Steve was developing youth Rugby. He raised thousands of dollars for tours, development and operations for Clubs to help bring new kids into the sport. His tenacious drive saw him give back to the Rugby community in so many ways.
He was a past President of the Twilighters and worked tirelessly to better the Rugby community and improve living standards and youth programs in Burnaby.
Rugby is built on the contributions of Members like Steve, and his impact on the sport will be forever imprinted on the fabric of the BC Rugby community.
Our thoughts are with Steve’s family and friends at this sad time.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Steve Baron at the Burnaby Lake Rugby Clubhouse (3760 Sperling Avenue, Burnaby) on Friday, November 1 from 2:00pm-5:00pm PST.
