BC REPRESENTED IN LATEST RUGBY CANADA MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SQUADS

Canada’s Women’s 15s team face No.1-ranked England, while Men’s 15s side close year against Belgium

British Columbia is well represented in Rugby Canada’s latest Senior Men’s 15s and Senior Women’s 15s squads for their respective November tours in Europe.

Canada’s Women’s 15s side takes on world No. 1-ranked England in London on November 14th, while Canada’s Men’s 15s team faces faces Belgium in Brussels on November 13th in their final match of 2021.

CANADA WOMEN’S 15s EXCITED TO FACE NO.1-RANKED ENGLAND

Women’s head coach Sandro Florino has included 10 BC-based athletes in the matchday roster to face The Red Roses at Twickenham Stoop, the first of two UK contests in their Fall Tour.

Congratulations to Gabrielle Senft (Castaway Wanderers, UVIC Vikes), Emily Belchos de Goede (Westshore RFC), Paige Farries (Worcester Warriors/Westshore RFC), Sara Kalijuvee (Toronto Scottish/UVIC Vikes), Elissa Alarie (Westshore RFC/Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue RFC/Braves de Trois-Rivieres), Laura Russell (Toronto Nomads/Cowichan RFC), Tyson Beukeboom (Cowichan RFC), Pamphinette Buisa (Canada Women’s 7s) and Renee Gonzalez (Westshore RFC/UVIC Vikes) on their inclusion.

“We’re excited to field another strong group of players this weekend,” said Fiorino. “We are welcoming back some very talented individuals and are excited to see them contribute on the pitch.”

The Fall Tour marks the first series of Test matches Canada’s Women’s 15s has played since November, 2019. The match against England, who go into Sunday’s encounter with successive wins over New Zealand, will be an important marker for the team’s Rugby World Cup campaign, launching October 2022.

CANADA’S MEN’S 15s CLOSE OUT YEAR AGAINST BELGIUM

Following last weekend’s narrow defeat to Portugal, Canada’s Men’s 15s team will be looking to end the year on a high in their final fixture against Belgium at Stade Nelson Mandela in Brussels.

Head Coach Kingsley Jones has named six BC athletes in his matchday roster. Congratulations to White Rock’s Michael Smith (San Diego Legion), Victoria’s Quinn Ngawati (Rugby United New York) and Lachlan Kratz (NOLA Gold), Vernon’s Isaac Olson (Canada Men’s 7s), Courtenay’s Foster DeWitt (Pacific Pride Academy) and Parksville’s Josh Larsen (New England Free Jacks) on their selection. Congratulations to Mississauga’s Kainoa Lloyd (James Bay AA) on his inclusion.
