Canada Women’s Sevens Roster: BC Represented in Young Squad
In a group featuring eight players aged 23 and under – including two players aged just 18 and two aged just 19 – Olympians Bianca Farella and Keyara Wardley make their return to the squad.
Four BC Rugby Clubs are represented through Pamphinette Buisa and Krissy Scurfield (UVIC Vikes), Levale (Abbotsford RFC), Florence Symonds (UBC Thunderbirds), Fancy Bermudez and Elissa Alarie (both Westshore RFC).
The RAN Qualifiers are swiftly followed by the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens at Starlight Stadium in Langford, BC on April 30 and May 1. Tickets can be purchased here.
“We’re really looking forward to the opportunity to compete at the RAN Sevens Qualifiers this weekend. Our roster is full of exciting young talent which will benefit from the experience of playing at this event, which is so important in our quest to qualify for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in South Africa. It’s also really nice to welcome back Bianca [Farella] and Keyara [Wardley] to the group after their recent absences. This is our longest training block of the season and this group has worked incredibly hard – not just those selected, but the entire squad – to ensure we are ready for what is a busy schedule and an important couple of weeks which will help define our year.” Head Coach Jack Hanratty

Canada Men’s Sevens Roster: Seven BC Natives included
Senior Men’s Sevens Head Coach Henry Paul has confirmed his 13-man roster heading to the Bahamas.
Returning to the squad and hoping to make an impact are Thomas Isherwood and Jarvis Dashkewytch after both missed out on the HSBC Canada Sevens at BC Place in Vancouver last weekend as Canada finished tenth. Lucas Scheck is in line to make his debut after joining the program in the fall of 2021.
Brennig Prevost, David Richard and Alex Russell miss out through minor injuries.
The event, being hosted at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium by the Bahamas Rugby Football Union, serves as the qualifiers for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in Cape Town, South Africa.
“This tournament represents the final leg of an intense period, following the Singapore and Canada Sevens events. We know the task at hand is to qualify for the Sevens World Cup later this year. We’ll approach Nassau with respect to the opposition whilst trying to replicate several pulsating performances the team produced in front of our passionate home crowd in BC Place last weekend.” Canada Senior Men’s Sevens Head Coach Henry Paul
