Rugby is Back! Saratoga Cup returns as Summer Season Kicks Off
Northern and Interior Clubs welcome players new and old to take advantage of summer season
Rugby in Northern and Interior BC is officially back!
With the 2020 season lost to the global pandemic, preparations for the new summer season across Northern and Interior BC is underway for Senior Men’s (19+), Senior Women’s (19+) and Age-Grade (Girls and Boys) teams.
For Senior Men’s teams, the season will culminate at the 2021 Saratoga Cup scheduled for October 2/3 and will provide fixtures for all teams regardless of league standings. While a champion will be declared, the tournament will be more festive in nature as all Clubs will be invited to celebrate the long-awaited return of Rugby in BC.
The first scheduled games of the new season will kick off on the weekend of July 24/25, 2021.

New Summer Seasons Confirmed
Following the global pandemic, BC Rugby is excited to welcome you back onto the Rugby pitch for what will be a safe, fun, action-packed summer season!
The Northern and Interior summer season will kick off on the weekend of July 24/25, 2021.
Following the BC Day long weekend, teams will contest the next four weekends including the Prince George Tournament on August 21/22, 2021. Following the Labour Day weekend (September 4/5, 2021), final league fixtures take place on the weekend of September 11/12.
Senior Men’s teams will then have two weeks to prepare for the 2021 Saratoga Cup, scheduled to take place in Kamloops on October 2/3, 2021.
Many clubs have been successful attracting female players during the pandemic with Touch Rugby. Should enough Senior Women’s teams form, we hope to see women’s touch or full contact matches taking place alongside the men’s schedule.
Age-Grade teams will be invited to finish their season at the Kamloops 7s on October 8/9, 2021.

BC Rugby membership is available to any resident of BC. Register as a player, coach, official, volunteer, medical staff or supporter to become a member.
Once you are a registered member, you become insured and covered under Rugby Canada’s insurance policy for the season. This includes Sports Liability Insurance, Sport Accident Insurance and Provincial Excess Medical Coverage.
Under the insurance program, the activities that are covered include sanctioned or authorised activities, such as games, practices, tournaments, camps and events.
