Kayla Moleschi
Kayla Moleschi‘s Rugby journey started in BC when she was just 14 years old. She is now an Olympic Bronze Medal winner.
Born and raised in the Rugby hotbed of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Kayla played baseball and hockey as a child, but became intrigued by Rugby after watching games on a local field. She picked up a Rugby ball for the first time in Grade 9 at Columeetza Secondary School and made an instant impact, scoring a try with her first touch in a competitive game.
It was a moment that sparked an impressive Rugby career to date. Moleschi plays for home-town team Williams Lake Rustlers at Club level and has represented both the Province and Canada many times over the years.
She was an integral part of the BC team that won the National U18 Girls’ XVs Championships in 2007. After attending Thompson Rivers University and the University of Lethbridge, Moleschi was named Canada West Rookie of the Year and CIS All-Canadian in 2011.
Then came the call from the Canadian National Team. Kayla made her Canada Women’s Sevens debut in 2011, scoring two tries in her first match at the 2011 IRB Challenge Cup.
“Moley” has been a constant fixture in the Canadian National team since and was part of the gold-medal winning side at the 2015 Pan Am Games, where she scored twice.
The pinnacle of Kayla’s Rugby career came at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where she won Bronze with the Canada Women’s Sevens team.
Away from the Rugby field, Kayla enjoys hiking and owns her own business, KM Yardworks.
